Weekend Operator, Part Time

<p>CommSecure is seeking a part-time (weekend) Operator to assist with the support of its predominantly Linux-based production systems.

<p>The successful applicant will be responsible for providing on-call support to customers during two eight hour shifts each weekend (night, day and evening shifts will be rostered on a rotating basis). Other tasks to aid with the maintenance and setting up of the CommSecure internal and production systems will also be assigned.

<p>This position would be appropriate for an upper-level university student or recent graduate seeking a chance to learn more about production systems and gain experience in customer care situations. Extensive on-the-job training is provided to all new operators. Ideally suited to an organised individual who can demonstrate initiative in problem solving, excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to remain calm and thoughtful in occasional busy, stressful situations.

<p>Experience in as many of the following areas as possible is a benefit:
<ul>
 <li>Linux / Unix commands</li>
 <li>TCP/IP networking</li>
 <li>Shell scripting (Bourne-shell compatible)</li>
  <li>Python programming</li>
  <li>Higher-level network protocols (particularly HTTP)</li>
  <li>Customer care / helpdesk roles</li>
</ul>

<p>Extensive on-the-job training is provided to all new operators.

<p>CommSecure encourages staff promotion from within and in the past a number of weekend operators have moved into full-time positions within both the Operations and Development departments of the company.  CommSecure is a small-to-medium sized company based in Pymble in Sydney's Northern Suburbs area. The company specialises in developing software in the financial area, providing online bill presentment and secure bill payment options in the B2B arena, amongst other things.
