Basic support and sys-admin, Volunteer

Type of service / Location: Basic sys/admin. Basic technical support for home-based office/laptop.
Part of the service may require presence at my location (close to the beach and spring is coming)!

Who I am: My name is Jan and I work in a media-related job. I have converted to Linux but am, as a mature-aged person, still in the early stages of learning, (I guess you'd call that a newbie in your terminology).

My typical use of the computer: Right now, light use as I am working full-time in a Windows environment. Next year, as a self employed person, I wish to use linux as my primary computer infrastructure.

Requirements: 5 items order by importance/priority:
1.PIM – Personal information management, namely
- email
- contacts
- calendar
2.PIM synchronisation with mobile phone (Sony Ericsson K700i); see references below
3.User-friendly OS upgrade and software install
4.User-friendly facility for download and enhancement of pics from my digital camera (Olympus C-60)
5.User-friendly facility for multimedia editing/authoring (emphasis on sound rather than video)

My very busy guardian angel who knows computers/linux: He will be very happy to talk with you, in techie language, about my requirements.

Current configuration:
Dell Inspirion 4100, Intel Pentium III Mobile CPU 1000Mhz, 512+Mo RAM
Currently running an old Mandrake; happy to consider alternative suggestions (e.g. Debian)

Rate/remuneration: Negotiable – aware of current market rates. Would encourage interest from people new in this role.
