System Administrator, Full Time

System Administrator: Linux

Squiz is looking for a talented System Administrator to join the team.

Your duties will include:

# The installation and maintenance of web and intranet servers
# Support for Squiz internal systems
# Research and implementation of new technologies as required by clients
# Troubleshooting problems
# Whatever it takes to make sure our client's systems never go down

The servers and systems you will maintain:

# Will be primarily Linux systems though we have clients that use Solaris, Mac OSX and Windows.
# May be based in one of our hosting facilities or onsite with a client

To apply for this position you must be able to to satisfy the majority of the following:

# Install and maintain Linux servers (eg Debian, Redhat, Gentoo)
# Configure and compile the following related applications (eg Apache, PHP, MySQL, PostgreSQL & Qmail)
# Demonstrate strong PHP programming and debugging skills
# Program confidently using more than one language (eg PERL or Bash scripting)
# Demonstrate experience in system management automation tasks (eg building packages)
# Demonstrate a good understanding of server security issues and relevant web protocols
# Demonstrate skills for proactively identifying and resolving potential problems
# Present well in front of clients and have a good phone manner
# Is able to work well with team mates and has a thirst for learning

The ideal candidate is someone who:

# Can support a wide range of servers
# Is passionate server administration
# Has experience in similar roles
# Enjoys occasional travel (This role requires on-site support for clients from time-to-time and Squiz has clients all over Australia and London).
# Is ready to start immediately

Good salary package is negotiable based on skills and experience. Intensive mentor based training and rapid progression a feature of this position.
