Anchor is a leading Australian hosting provider based in
Sydney, providing a range of services from domain name
registrations, shared hosting, managed servers and
co-location.

We are seeking an enthusiastic new staff member with about 2
years hobbyist experience in Linux administration to join
our team as Junior Systems Administrator and Second Level
customer support.

You will be working under guidance of senior administrators,
on the Anchor server farm of 60+ machines, using both
popular open source and custom systems automation tools to
deploy and maintain services and servers.

Responsibilities of this role include:

  Customer support via email and telephone.

  Configuration of system services including Apache, BIND,
  Postfix and Sendmail, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Tomcat as
  required for customer provisioning.

  Routine maintenance of shared and dedicated hosting
  servers; applying security updates, scheduling outages,
  responding to network monitoring systems.

  Overseeing the ordering process to assure high standards
  and ensure quality of service.

  Preparation and installation of new servers into the data
  centre.

Hence, the ideal candidate will have a good phone manner and
excellent communication skills, have had plenty of exposure
to Linux and Free/Open Source software, and possibly the
hint of an obsessive-compulsive attention to detail.

This is a great position for a recent graduate wanting to
cut their teeth in systems administration.

Anchor is located in the CBD, within spitting distance of
public transport and many many pubs, and has its own coffee
machine, beer fridge, and a fussball table.

Salary package: $43k
