Atlassian is a young profitable Sydney-based software company developing Java web applications (currently an issue tracker and a wiki). Due to sustained growth over the past 2.5 years, we are looking for a Java developer who can take on some of the support load.

This role requires a well-rounded developer, with fairly strong knowledge of Java from a developer's point of view and from a sysadmin's point of view (knowledge of databases, application servers, HTTP, TCP/IP assumed). The primary responsibility will be to handle email-based support requests. This involves identifying known issues, replicating problems, providing advice to customers, making minor bugfixes/improvements to the codebase, improving documentation, and liaising with the team to identify areas where development efforts should be focused. As a customer-facing role, written communication skills are crucial.

We would highly prefer a Linux-oriented person in this role, as much of our infrastructure is Linux-based, and the ability to script repetitive tasks (and use our script library) is important.
