Located at Chatswood, in Optus’ Internet Engineering Area, you will play a vital role in ensuring the success of the Optus Internet in providing a timely and quality service to its customers. Optus Internet Engineering uses Perl as its primary scripting language, with Linux Red Hat environment and open source applications.

Your key responsibilities will be to develop new customer facing systems, enhance existing systems as well as automating existing manual systems. You will also be involved with improving reporting and monitoring systems.

In order to be successful for this position you will need to have extensive Perl programming experience, preferably within an ISP and /or a significant data centre.

You will demonstrate proven initiative and ability in resolving issues/problems independently. Your strong team skills and ability to collaborate effectively within the department and broader Optus business, will see you shine in this role.

The team is involved in every significant consumer Internet initiative. We are also responsible for the on-going support of all systems resulting from such initiatives.

Some of the responsibilities of this group on the OptusNet server platform are:

    * Architecture, Development and Design of Radius, Mail, DNS
    * Support
    * Core system development eg Mail.
    * Security
