This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic Australian company who is a market leader in its field. We design and manufacture packaging machinery for the food industry and are currently experiencing rapid growth in export sales. A major part of this success comes from the company’s emphasis on research and development.

The successful applicant of this newly created position will be responsible for the design and implentation of all product software ranging from real time motor control to operators interfaces. It offers the opportunity for a programer to apply his / her knowledge in real world application environments.

As a result, we are seeking persons with the following skills:

 

Programming 
            *  C / C++
            *  Assembler
            *  Visual basic/Gtk/Qt or similar

Essential Attributes
            *  Strong mathematical skills
            *  Excellent problem solving ability
            *  Self motivated
            *  Ability to work in a team
            *  Excellent written and communication skills

 

Desirable Attributes

            *  Knowledge of closed loop control
            *  Exposure to communications protocol and interfaces
            *  MMI
            *  Technical writing

 

Occasional interstate and international travel would be required as new machinery and/or software releases are implemented.

The significance of linux is that we're developing a control system using RTLinux. 
We're also creating user interfaces for that
control system using QT that is also running on
linux. We also have a bit of porting work to do.

However it is also fair to say that we also would expect applicants to be preprared to work on windoze applications as well.
