Assistant Tech Support, Contract

I am currently testing the market for Linux based PCs. This will become a full fledged operation.
For this I need one or more part time persons who can set up a turn key PC based on Linux:
- Install Linux on a PC
- Install / remove hardware components in PCs
- support Linux systems by phone, email or on site
Prerequisite skills are:
1. Linux experience
2. Changing hardware configuration in a PC, e.g.
    - add boards, disk drives, modems, memory, etc
    - remove boards, disk drives, modems, etc
    - adjust PROM with set-up
3. Ability to install and configure Linux (Mandrake) and related software, e.g. KDE, GNOME, KOFFICE, Star Office,etc.
4. Ability to identify incompatibilities between hardware and Linux
5. Ability to rectify these incompatibilities, e.g. download and install drivers
6. Test the PC
7. Document deviations from standard configuration

Times: Are flexible, hours vary from three to 20 hrs per week.
Work Place: my premises are in Randwick, but much of the work can be done at the person's home if
transport and security of equipment is satisfactory.

Pay is a combination of "per installation" and an hourly rate depending on qualification of applicant.
