Strong alignment to values, well articulated costs, honorarium is encouraged within the Grant terms to recognise the time people put into these efforts. At a more strategic level, there is a natural affinity between the LA community and HackerSpaces / MakerSpaces and it makes sense to fund more of these types of requests. The course will run several times a year (or more) depending on interest. 3. I will send another reply with the course cost. The electronic parts will remain with Makerspace and students can buy their own EagLED board or use one of ours. 4. This is an in-person course because it is a practical course and will be run in the Electronics area at Makerspace Adelaide. 5. The primary take away from the course is for the students to be comfortable with uploading and modifying basic Aduino sketches, following a basic circuit diagram and sewing a circuit / adding a circuit to their cosplay. --- On 07/09/2022 9:49 am, Wil Brown wrote: > Hi Robyn > > Thanks for your grant application to Linux Australia. > > Could you please provide some more details about your proposed course that will help the council debate the grant application? > > Q: Please provide the course outline - modules and lessons will suffice > Q: How often will this course run? > Q: How much will students pay for the course? > Q: Is this an online or in-person course? > Q: What is the primary student take-away from the course? > > Thanks, > Wil. > > On Sun, Sep 4, 2022 at 8:56 PM Linux Australia Website via committee wrote: > >> Your Email Address: robyn at robynspcs.com >> Project name: E-Textiles Course >> Aim of the project: 6 week course to introduce cosplayers and others to Arduino and E-Textiles using the Little Bird EagLED board. Council members appreciated the detailed information provided as part of the application, and saw this as an excellent example of broadening the reach of Open Source. Several community members also expressed their support of the proposal. We are happy to inform you that the grant application was approved - congratulations! The grant is to cover the items as laid out in the application. Please email the Linux Australia treasurer (treasurer at linux.org.au) to determine how the grant funds will be paid and make the necessary administrative arrangements. As per the grant guidelines, Linux Australia request that you provide a brief report about the activities funded by this grant for inclusion in our Annual Report. This should highlight how the funding benefitted the community in light of Linux Australia's values[1]. We ask that this be sent via email to council at linux.org.au by the end of November to allow sufficient time for its incorporation into the report. We are aware that the course may not have run by the time this report is due. Linux Australia requests acknowledgement of its support of the course. This may be through the inclusion of Linux Australia's logo on a website and course materials, inclusion in credits, or other actions appropriate to the project. Please contact us if additional guidance is required. If you have a requirement to host course materials or other resources related to the course, Linux Australia would be happy to place these on our mirror. We would also love to promote the course on our communication channels. If either of these are of interest please get in touch. If you have further questions feel free to contact myself or any member of the Linux Australia Council. Regards Jonathan Woithe (on behalf of the Linux Australia Council)
