Am in the middle of using Debian 12.7 to build a little Internet Gateway and LAN file server. Am struggling with bridging networks. Not sure if because I've forgotten such network know-how, become too used to operating through GUIs, or the feeling that I'm going-backwards after relying upon AP/switch/router appliances... -- Regards =dn From russell at coker.com.au Thu Sep 5 15:37:28 2024 From: russell at coker.com.au (Russell Coker) Date: Thu, 05 Sep 2024 15:37:28 +1000 Subject: [Flounder] Flounder 7th Sep 2024 Debian Hack Day In-Reply-To: <9fee4b4d-b7ec-4a9f-a110-8ba3c5dc07e6@etelligence.info> References: <23641721.6Emhk5qWAg@cupcakke> <9fee4b4d-b7ec-4a9f-a110-8ba3c5dc07e6@etelligence.info> Message-ID: <4373602.ejJDZkT8p0@cupcakke> On Thursday, 5 September 2024 05:31:18 AEST DL Neil via Flounder wrote: > Am in the middle of using Debian 12.7 to build a little Internet Gateway > and LAN file server. Message-ID: Article of possible interest: David Heinemeier Hansson September 2, 2024 Why don't more people use Linux? A couple of weeks ago, I saw a tweet asking: "If Linux is so good, why aren't more people using it?" And it's a fair question! It intuitively rings true until you give it a moment's consideration. Linux is even free, so what's stopping mass adoption, if it's actually better? My response: If exercising is so healthy, why don't more people do it? If reading is so educational, why don't more people do it? If junk food is so bad for you, why do so many people eat it? ... https://world.hey.com/dhh/why-don-t-more-people-use-linux-33b75f53 -- Regards =dn From yifei at zhan.science Wed Sep 18 19:10:55 2024 From: yifei at zhan.science (yifei at zhan.science) Date: Wed, 18 Sep 2024 09:10:55 +0000 Subject: [Flounder] September 21st Flounder Meeting: BTRFS testing and seL4 microkit hacking Message-ID: <2702299.irdbgypaU6@frame> A hack day for testing BTRFS RAID-5/6 recovery and hacking on the new seL4 microkit framework.
