Hi Sam,

What Linux distro are you using? Is your network card detected in
Linux? 

Do you have two computers? Are you swapping the cable between the two? 
If so, before you swap the cable you should power off your modem at the
wall so it has a full reset. 

Optus are correct in saying use the ethernet port rather than the USB -
they generally do not work in Linux. 

The other thing is maybe a config issue - but if this modem works for
your windows box -the username and password must be configured. If in
doubt - using a web browser go to the configuration address for your
modem to check the details.
