Hi Avery

If you are using a debian based system you can install and uninstall programs
using an application called apt-get. You will need to have root permissions to
do this. I would suggest reading the apt howto available from the debian
website, http://www.debian.org/doc/user-manuals#apt-howto

You can also download the source code of programs and compile them yourself if
you want but using apt-get is the easiest way.
