My family as all euro's tend to claim some where along the track are aristocrasy. Mine are the Hapsburgs who ruled the Holy Roman Empire which was noted to be neither holy nor roman nor an empire... Any way refugees are in a desperate situation. Often it's the ones with money who leave. What does every body rekon about what is going on. If you believe my mother we had millions of pesetas "confiscated" by the stalinists UGE in the spanish civil war as well as half the family being "liquidated". Isn't good to be Linux geek in Australia I got a copy of DemoLinux 2 the, Debian distro. Apart from the appearing fact that it was faulty too often. I thought it was great. It even worked with an internal Lucent winmodem I found on hard rubbish day. This reply came to the list accidently because when you hit reply to the list emails - the reply goes to the list. If you hit Reply to all - you can then delete the email addresses you dont want the email to go to. Replying to spam is a waste of time - the best thing you can do is hit the delete button or set up spam filtering. Sorry all for the confusion and dont forget to check who you are replying to when you hit the reply button on the email. :) Also remember that if you are imparting information to another persons questions it is always a good thing to post it to the list too - so everyone can get the benefit of your knowledge. :) Cheers, Kylie Davies Victorian State Coordinator Computerbank Australia Inc On Mon, 11 Nov 2002 11:28, Lorraine Higgins wrote: > This is the third email I have had re this David person Prince of somewhere > or the other . It is true that the current models of printer are USB style and you need to know a few extra things. EG: Does your system have a USB port or will you need to get one installed. I think your's has USB ports. With this knowledge - we check linux printing and find out how the new canons fair. I see that the following are supported (MOSTLY) under linux: The Canon S100 You might want to check the HP series. If you are still stuck - call us or email again! (I cant believe someone has used this list as intended - well down and extra brownie points to you!) deb king wrote; salesman who told me there was no such thing as linux! I've just had my computer updated to KDE 3 & i've a problem with the Internet Dialer (kppp), it will not authenticate my login's. I've checked the /etc/ppp/options & the 35th line has been edited to _noauth_ as i had to with KDE 2. I know _status 19_ is a failed authentication & i've even rang my ISP to check my password etc. I've checked & double checked the password & am about to pull what's left of my hair, out. For i've clocked up a few bucks of phone calls trying to connect, without success. Can anyone tell me if the ppp/options file should be edited, like KDE 2? Because if it shouldn't of been edited, all i have to do is delete it & use the original ppp/options file. ( they are identical except the 35th. line ) Other than that, i've checked everything i can think of & cannot work out what's wrong. Hoping for help. Cheers, Vic. I'd like to know if anybody out there is using KDE 3's Internet Dialer (kppp) & has got it to work. For i've just upgraded my computer to KDE 3 & the Internet Dialer will not authenticate my password & user name to my ISP. So i checked & double checked my password & all the settings for a 56K V90 serial modem. I know in KDE 2, you had to edit the 35th line in the /etc/ppp/options file, from auth to noauth & i did this with KDE 3 but without success. We even typed someone elses user name & password, also without success. To test it on a different computer, we created a user on a new KDE 3 install & tried it on that, also without success. We kept on getting "status 19" error messages. So if anyone out there has KDE 3 installed & is using the Internet Dialer (kppp) i'd love to hear how they got it working. For i've got a computer here that i cannot connect to the internet with. I like kppp for i can keep checking the time i've been on the net by just putting the cursor over it's icon that docks onto the panel when in use. I hope somebody can help me, for i've enough gray hairs. Cheers, Vic Koci. Considering his very strategic and influential position, he would want the transaction to be as strictly confidential as possible. He further wants his identity to remain undisclosed at least for now, untill the completion of the transaction. Hence our desire to have an overseas agent. I have therefore been directed to inquire if you would agree to act as our overseas agent in order to actualize this transaction. The deal, in brief, is that the funds with which we intend to carry out our proposed investments in your country is presently in a coded account at the Nigerian Apex Bank (i.e. the Central Bank of Nigeria) and we need your assistance to transfer the funds to your country in a convenient bank account that will be provided by you before we can put the funds into use in your country. For this, you shall be considered to have executed a contract for the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing in Nigeria for which payment should be effected to you by the Ministry, The contract sum of which shall run into US$27.4 Million, of which your share shall be 25% and 5% for expenses if you agree to be our overseas agent. As soon as payment is effected, and the amount mentioned above is successfully transferred into your account, we intend to use our own share in acquiring some estates abroad. For this too you shall also serve as our agent. In the light of this, I would like you to forward to me the following information: 1. Your company name and address if any 2. Your personal fax number 3. Your personal telephone number for easy communication. You are requested to communicate your acceptance of this proposal through my above stated email address after which we shall discuss in details the modalities for seeing this transaction through. Your quick response will be highly appreciated. Thank you in anticipation of your cooperation. Yours faithfully, DR. If you hit Reply to all - you can then delete the email addresses you dont want the email to go to. Replying to spam is a waste of time - the best thing you can do is hit the delete button or set up spam filtering. Message-ID: <3DD4E96E.7010604@iprimus.com.au> Hi All. Message-ID: <3DD7B1E5.8D113CEA@iprimus.com.au> Hi All. From jamesalbert0 at eircom.net Tue Nov 26 11:40:01 2002 From: jamesalbert0 at eircom.net (DR.
