This is absolutely the critical take-home message, I think. I have read
way too many licences in the last week and they're all combining into
one, now.
Pretty much.
For code that I write on a personal basis, it has come down to three.
GPL, LGPL, or public domain.
For code that I write professionally, a bit more thought has been put
in but mostly it is either GPL, LGPL or proprietary.
