I was suggesting a static CNAME which would not expire, thereby moving
the responsibility of turning the domain on/off from kre to the
linux.org.au admins.

Surely the adding/removal of a second CNAME from lca.linux.org.au to
lcaXXXX.linux.org.au would be trivial to automate.
